Feedback welcome, especially if you have loaded the code on your ATS rig. Yes, it will work on the ATS2, ATS3 and the ATS3A. Unfortunately, the original ATS (ATS1) used a different processor so this firmware will not work on it.

NOTE:  Please bug me with questions about the firmware or "how to DIY" and let Steve design
for the future. I am happy to provide support if you want to "try this at home".

ATS Firmware from w1mt

Firmware  ATS2,3,3A_19JUN06 Cheatsheet_19JUN06
Firmware_ATS3B 18JUN08 Cheatsheet_04JUN08

ATS-3B firmware includes revamped keying, battery voltage more accurate, dfe during straight key mode - must use button paddle mode. Don't use the previous version 7 it did not work properly in sk+button paddle mode)

Scan mode allows automated frequency scanning.

Buttons as paddle allows buttons to be used as paddle, for when you forget to bring them or for the Spartan Sprints.

Firmware download note: save the files without the ".txt" suffix. They need to be ".s43" files.

Software setup on PC
Note, the computer must have a parallel port. Setup the IAR development suite. Use IAR software (Version 3.21A) as the latest IAR software from TI will not work with the instructions listed here.

The following text and photos describe how I connect the TI MSP-FET430X110 board. The Olimex  MSP430-JTAG cable works FB too.

Pin number 1 on the left, pin number 7 on
the right. You should be able to see the
type of connectors that I used. You can
improvise. You don't have to solder the
header pins to the radio board, holding
them in the holes with a slight sideways
pressure is enough to make the con-
nection for downloading. I soldered them
in but next time probably won't.

Here is the radio board connection connected,
from the other side. Pin 7 on the left now and pin 1
on the right.

Here is how I connect the to the FET
board. This diagram will tell where the
7 pins connect to the radio.

Oriented the same way as the picture.

Here is my Spartan Sprint setup. Sprint
weight is 0.255 pounds.  (check out uberlight version for a more recent version.)

Close up of an early HB paddle. Note the ground is not
soldered as I may yet move it to the inside of the
lid, which is on the bottom of the rig.
